OFFICER SHOE BLACK OILTAN
A model crafted using a vintage Munson last that I happened to come across.
The Munson last was developed over four years by Dr. Munson, a professor of military hygiene at the Army School in Washington, in 1912. He studied the feet of approximately 2,000 soldiers and examined the fitting of thousands of shoes to perfect this last.
Using this historic last, I designed the boot with the image of an officer from that era in mind.
偶然手に入ったヴィンテージのマンソンラストを使用したモデル。
マンソンラストとは、1912年にワシントンの陸軍学校の軍隊衛生学の教授として就任していたマンソン博士が、4年の歳月をかけてこのラストを完成。
約2000人もの兵士の足を調べ、数千足の靴のフィッティングを調査し、完成させた木型だそうです。その木型を使い、当時の将校が履いているのをイメージして作りました。
