JUMONJI WORKS is a brand founded in 2014 by KYOSUKE JUMONJI who is a boots maker.
It was 2008 that I went to Canada from Japan and worked as a craftworker of long-established work boots company in Victoria. Then during my days keeping making boots every day, I started receiving requests for various leather work without limit to making shoes.
I am working on making things that use of the skill from making traditional North American work boots in rich natural Canadian.

日本からカナダに渡り、ブリティッシュコロンビア州の州都ビクトリアで老舗ワークブーツブランドの職人として働き始めたのが2008年でした。それから毎日ブーツを作り続ける日々の中、靴作りに限らない様々なレザーワークの依頼を受けるようになりました。
自然豊かなカナダの地で北アメリカの伝統的なワークブーツ作りで培った技術を生かした物作りに取り組んでます。
JUMONJI WORKS Shoemaking
Humans once walked barefoot, but with evolution, they began wearing shoes. Initially crafted to fit the foot, shoes have since evolved into various styles suited to different regions and environments.
Humans stand upright and walk on two feet. Supporting the body and maintaining balance with both feet, step by step, is inherently more unstable and challenging compared to four-legged animals. Shoes exist to support these vital feet. Moreover, physical balance is closely connected to mental balance.
“Jumonji” (十文字) is my surname and means “cross” in Japanese. A cross consists of simple vertical and horizontal lines, yet even within this simplicity, balance is essential.
At JUMONJI WORKS, we strive to create shoes that achieve harmony across four key elements: fit, walkability, environmental adaptability, and fashion—ensuring balance tailored to each individual.
JUMONJI WORKS の靴作り
裸足で歩いていた人は、進化とともに靴を履くようになりました。
靴はまず足に合わせて作られ、その土地や環境に合わせて様々なスタイルの靴が今日まで生まれてきました。
人は垂直に立ち、二足歩行をします。
両足で身体を支えバランスを保ち、一歩一歩前に進むことは、他の動物の四つ足に比べ明らかに不安定で困難です。その大事な両足をサポートする為に靴があります。
そして、体のバランスは心のバランスでもあります。
十文字 JUMONJI とは私の名字であり、日本語で十字（クロス）を意味します。十字は縦と横の線のシンプルな図形ですが、そこにもバランスを必要とします。
